Transportutvikling AS has been engaged by Oppland County Council (now Innlandet) in order to assist when acquiring a new ferry for Randsfjorden by rendering shipbuilding supervision and consulting services.
The Randsfjorden crossing is a county service, connecting county municipal road no.34 Horn with county municipal road no. 245 Tangen in Innlandet county municipality. The crossing is at present serviced by a 70-year old diesel-motored vessel.
In October 2019, the County Council decided on acquiring a new, electrically motored and zero-emission ferry for servicing this crossing.
The County Council has recently signed a contract with Holland Shipyards Group BV (HSG) for building this new electrically driven ferry and a slip carriage. The ferry is to be constructed in The Netherlands and assembled at Randsfjorden, and put into service not later than 1. August 2021.
This is a challenging project, as Randsfjorden is not approachable from the sea.
Transportutvikling AS is to ensure that the ferry is constructed in accordance with first class shipbuilding craftmanship, with the negotiated contract between the parties, and that total costs and time of delivery is as agreed upon.
Transportutvikling AS is engaged for to carry out building supervision, consultancy and assistance related to the construction and the assembling at Randsfjorden, and supplying marine technical and other relevant assistance when the ferry is put into service.
Transportutvikling AS will also assist the county council on financial issues related to the project.
